Art Meets 3×3 Basketball With Molly Hawkins’ Vivid Court Design
Every court at Writtle University is enhanced with a FIBA 3×3 acrylic finish, beautifully crafted and adorned with artwork by Molly Hawkins. Her designs weave arts, culture, and sports together, reflecting the UK’s vibrant basketball scene. Molly describes her artistic process: “My design concept focuses on how shapes and color can create dynamic motion. The colors I chose… create a clash in energy that feels really exciting and powerful…” This expression of passion and creativity in her work aims to inspire those who play on these courts.
Inclusive Basketball at Writtle
Writtle University College proudly showcases ten newly established basketball courts, including four practice courts with Mega Slam 72 Hoops centrally located on campus. The six additional courts feature extensive floodlighting, suitable for tournaments and significant events, enhanced by powerful LED Game Lights for night play. This setup marks Writtle as the pioneering British institution with a dedicated 3×3 basketball facility. Dr. Greg Deacon of WUC comments “3×3 is basketball at its most inclusive. These courts are the first of many fantastic projects that will help us to support students, athletes and the local community.”
